Maribyrnong,Victoria,Australia -The Footscray, Yarraville, Braybrook Star, by Belinda Nolan -23 September 2008: -- Maribyrnong Truck Action Group has formed an unlikely alliance with Western suburbs truckies over the one proposal in the Eddington report they can all agree on – the need for on/off ramps to the West Gate Freeway... MTAG President Peter Knight joined Maribyrnong City Councillors: Michael Clarke and Janet Rice and local residents to launch the campaign at the site of the proposed ramps under the WestGate Freeway last week... In a surprise turn of events, trucking associations have lent their support to the scheme, despite a long history of antagonism between the two groups... The ramps, part of Eddington’s Truck Action Plan, would create a route for trucks that bypasses residential streets.It’s the best solution, according to Mr Knight...
