HEROES * Canada - Trucker, motorist hailed as heroes

A Highgate man and a Leamington woman are being hailed as heroes after they pulled a victim from a burning car after a highway crash in Kingsville

Chatham-Kent, Canada -The London Free Press, by TREVOR TERFLOTH -August 19, 2008: -- ... Police said truck driver Jody Rumble, 47, and motorist Alissa Douglas, 29, saved the man's life... At about 3:45 a.m. Saturday, OPP responded to a crash at Highway 3 and County Road 31... Police said Rumble's transport truck travelling west on Highway 3 and a Dodge Intrepid going north on County Road 31 approaching the intersection at Highway * -- which is controlled by traffic lights -- collided at the intersection... The truck went into a ditch and the Dodge, which remained on the road, caught fire... Police said Rumble and Douglas, who was driving home when she saw the wreckage, pulled driver Goran Cavic, 29, out of the burning Dodge... OPP are recommending Rumble and Douglas for a bravery award...

Bowmanville,ONT,CAN -Long Haul Big Hearts, by Doug -August 19th, 2008: -- Three years ago, after Hurricane Katrina, local truck driver - Peter Bruno started a home grown relief mission in Durham Region to help the citizens of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Peter was the first North American long haul truck driver with donated relief supplies to reach the devastated town of Long Beach, Mississippi, and the relief centre called Camp Coast Care... Unfortunately, Peter Bruno had 2 heart attacks after that and was out of work for a long time, but had slowly recovered. Recently he had his third heart attack, is awaiting surgery and may now face losing his livelihood...
