* Sweden - Scania AB wins truck order from Finnish defence forces

Sodertalje, Sweden -Trading Markets -July 11, 2008: -- Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania AB said on Friday that its Finnish subsidiary Oy Scan-Auto Ab has landed an order for all-wheel-drive trucks from the Finnish defence forces... The order covers the delivery of 21 Scania G 380 8x8 medium heavy trucks during 2009 and 2010, and includes repair and maintenance agreements, as well as training and documentation services... The order also includes an option for four additional vehicles... In 2007 the company's invoiced sales totalled SEK84.5bn. (One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.86 Swedish kronor-SEK)...


* Malaysia - Hino Motors targets to sell 2,300 trucks

Malaysia -The Malaysia Star, by SHAH ALAM -July 12, 2008: -- Hino Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd targets to sell 2,300 light commercial vehicles this year, said managing director Hiroo Kayanoki... He added that Hino Motors’ share of the local light commercial vehicle market was projected to increase to 15% this year from 6.4% in 2004... Hino's latest EcoPlus models with 4-litre engine capacity consumed 15% less fuel when compared with its competitors, of similar engine capacity... These vehicles, which are assembled locally, are targeted at courier companies, catering companies as well as distributors of retail goods... The EcoPlus models are priced from RM69,000... Since 1977, Hino Motors has sold over 42,000 commercial vehicles. It sold 1,396 light commercial vehicles last year, representing 11% share of the domestic market...


* Sutphen unveils more affordable C Series trucks

Springfield,OH,USA -The Springfield News Sun, by Elaine Morris Roberts -July 11, 2008: -- Since 1890, Sutphen has built custom fire trucks for fire departments all over the world. The trouble with that is, those custom-built trucks are often out of financial reach for many smaller departments... In a move to serve that market sector, the 118 year-old company has unveiled its newest truck, the C Series. The truck is built on a commercially produced chassis, which represents about a $40,000 cost savings to potential buyers, said John Woltman, director of commercial product lines and operations and an Ohio licensed firefighter...
