TRUCKING INDUSTRY WORLDWIDE * Azerbaijan - ABADA predicts boom of international road transportation from

Baku,Azerbaijan -Azerbaijan Business Center/Fineko/abc.az -19 July 2008: -- The Association of International Motor Freight Forwarders (ABADA) considers existing number of haulage contractors superfluous, judging from current volume of export cargo in the country... ABADA chairman Tofig Nurullayev said that by the present the Association had drawn 50 hauliers in its ranks, including mainly legal entities... As of 1st January, 2008, 60 individuals and legal entities ran international road haulage. ABADA has drawn 48 of them and another 12 ones considered prospects of their membership in the Association. Then the ABADA members had at disposal 530 trucks... Iran comes forward as the key cargo-forming factor today... “25-30% of our transportation falls on Iran’s cargo, 15-20% more on carriages to third countries, but in order to receive them the haulier should have export cargo from Azerbaijan. Besides, according to our estimate, already for the next two years country’s economic development will lead to appearance of sustainable high volume of export cargo and international road haulage will experience boom,” Nurullayev said... In 2007 ABADA sold over 7,000 carnet TIR (P.N.: Documentation accompanying the transport of goods), books to its members and in the 1st half of 2008 - 3,900 ones...
