* USA - RETURN: International to recall 200 employees laid off workers
Chatam,KY,USA -The Chatam Daily News, by BOB BOUGHNER -30 May 2008: -- ... International Truck and Engine Corp. is about to call back up to 200 laid-off workers... Joe McCabe, a CAW national representative, told that truck production at the Chatham plant will be increased from 65 units daily to 125... McCabe said the recall comes after a downward trend that has persisted for the past one-and-a-half years... Company spokesman Roy Wiley of Chicago confirmed the recall late Thursday afternoon. He said the company's Chatham-built trucks are in good demand in the North American trucking industry... The company also detailed second quarter 2008 worldwide shipments of Class 6-7 medium trucks and Class 8 heavy trucks, school buses and expansion market vehicles of 27,200 - a 41-per-cent increase over the first quarter.
