Fleet Managers * USA - Express Feelings About Management

USA -Automotive Fleet -May 31, 2008: -- Fleet managers asked to assess their department's priority in executive halls... Senior management has "no idea" about complexities of running fleet... Anonymity guaranteed in asking if managers felt management respected them. W/o fear of reprisals, managers offered following statements:
- Executives assign fleet manager duties to person standing nearest water fountain. But execs fear losing top sales people when fleet cuts off vehicles for bad driving...
- If fleet runs well, management assumes it's "no brainer" position. Since everyone drives, everyone knows how to run a fleet...

- No respect for knowledge, skills needed to run, maintain large fleet. Execs do not understand true value of vehicles...
... Some managers provided positive responses; offered ways to gain greater regard... Some felt question was too leading and not all fleet had respect problems...
