If hundreds of millions of dollars in New Brunswick highway projects are being held up by a boycott by private dump-truck operators, it's news to the man in charge of paying for those highway projects

"I don't know where it is," said New Brunswick Transportation Minister Denis Landry on Tuesday about stalled highway projects. "I haven't heard anything."... "People are telling me trucks are hauling and hauling."... The New Brunswick Dump Truck Association on Tuesday claimed that 1,200 private dump-truck operators representing 80 per cent of the dump trucks in the province are boycotting $346 million worth of government highway projects because of low fees... Association spokesman Peter Turner said dump-truck operators are losing $20 on every run because of high fuel prices. The association wants a 20 per cent increase in their fees from the government, even though they received a hike since April... Landry said that for every one per cent increase in fees for dump-truck operators costs the province $100,000... "I think he is dreaming," said Landry about the possibility of another 20 per cent fee hike. "I was honest with them"... It has been a long time since the dump-truck operators received a fee increase prior to April. That's why there was a substantial increase in the last year, he said...
