CUTING DUTIES * Italy - Pledges 107 mln euros for truckers mainly via cut in motorway tolls

Milan,Italy -Thomson Financial/Forbes (NY,USA) -10 June 2008: -- Italy infrastructure minister Altero Matteoli has allocated 107 million euros of state funds to help truckers, with 90 percent of the funds going on lower motorway tolls, his ministry said... The government has launched further talks with trucking representatives on easing the impact of higher fuel costs. Matteoli officials said a cut in duties on diesel fuel is one option... 'I have signed the directive to allow for a reduction in motorway tolls,' said Matteoli in a statement, noting the toll cuts will be steepest for the least polluting commercial vehicles... These first measures target help to truckers whose activities are penalised by the rise in fuel prices,' he said...
