Peterbilt showcases hybrid Model 320 Hydraulic Launch Assist vehicle at Waste Expo

Chicago,ILL,USA -Truck News, by Adam Ledlow -5 May 2008: -- Peterbilt Motors Company is displaying its Model 320 Hydraulic Launch Assist (HLA) at the 2008 Waste Expo in Chicago... The vehicle, designed for vocational stop-and-go refuse applications, has the potential to dramatically improve fuel economy, reduce emissions, and reduce maintenance service. The vehicle utilizes HLA technology by Eaton Corporation that captures the truck's kinetic energy during braking to assist in launching and accelerating the vehicle. Officials say testing has proven a significant improvement in fuel economy and indicated the potential to reduce annual brake re-alignment services by 50% annually... * Peterbilt introduces low-profile car carrier

Denton,TX,USA -Truck News (Canada) -5 May 2008: -- Peterbilt has announced the availability of a new Model 388 low-profile configuration tractor built specifically for the car carrier industry... The new truck is available for order immediately. It boasts a lower cab height to allow for the aftermarket installation of an over-the-cab car carrier body, which maximizes the number of vehicles hauled. The low cab height allows customers to haul larger vehicles above the cab... The new truck can be spec'd with a wide variety of engines up to 600 hp as well as various suspensions...


* Nissan U.S. commercial truck news

USA -edmunds/inside line -5 May 2008: -- Nissan is reportedly going to show their light commercial vehicle (or vehicles), otherwise known as LCV(s), at the next Detroit auto show in January... As has been reported, Nissan plans on introducing three LCVs in the United States within the next few years. One is expected to be a van, quite possibly based on their Primastar van (pictured), which is sold in many other markets worldwide. If so, it's most direct competitor here would the the Dodge/Freightliner Sprinter vans, which have proven so popular with delivery services and tradesmen...
