* Sweden - Scania wins order for 146 delivery trucks from Russia's Retail Group

Stockholm,Sweden -Thomson Financial News/Forbes (NY,USA) -21 April 2008: -- Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania AB said it has won an order for 146 heavy delivery trucks from Russian grocery chain X5 Retail Group, for an undisclosed sum... Last year Scania also delivered 144 trucks to the Russian group, which will use the trucks to distribute to its 600 franchised supermarket outlets... Scania said it currently has a truck market share of 27.4 percent in Russia, making it the largest western European brand in the country...


* Japan - Isuzu says may build trucks in Saudi Arabia

Tokyo,Japan -Reuters -21 April 2008: -- Japanese truck maker Isuzu Motors Ltd., said on Monday it was looking at building trucks in Saudi Arabia, which would make it the world's first auto maker to produce vehicles there... Construction and thus truck demand has been rising in Saudi Arabia, where the economy has benefited from a fivefold surge in oil prices over the last six years...


* USA - Volvo Truck plant wins environmental award

Dublin,Virginia,USA -Automotive World, by Michael Murphy -22 April, 2008: -- Volvo Trucks North America's New River Valley (NRV) Plant in Dublin, Virginia, won Virginia's highest environmental award for employing advanced technology to recycle and reuse 70% of the wastewater generated by the plant's production activities... The plant was awarded a Gold Medal and Governor's Flag at the 2008 Governor's Environmental Excellence Awards on 2 April. Volvo was one of only two companies in Virginia recognised at that level. The award encourages excellence in environmental management by recognising companies that go beyond regulatory compliance toward environmental stewardship... The wastewater recycling system reduced the plant's water consumption by nearly 600,000 gallons per month during the second half of 2007...
