The guests of honor were representatives of the township of Smithtown on Long Island, two major privately-owned refuse and recycling companies, and the city's Department of Sanitation (DSNY). In the last year, acting independently, Smithtown, Filco Carting Corp., Metropolitan Paper Recycling Co. and DSNY committed to put 38 new natural gas trucks into operation; 28 are now in service...
* AEP Orders Hybrid Utility Trucks
USA -Environmental Leader -April 22, 2008: -- American Electric Power has ordered its largest number of hybrid trucks to date - 18 International DuraStar Hybrid diesel trucks... The addition brings the total number of hybrid utility trucks in AEP’s fleet to 22 - giving it the largest fleet of diesel hybrid utility trucks in the country, according to the company. Still, it represents a relatively small fraction of the 1,500 International trucks in its fleet...
