* USA - Hino Marks Record Month; Sees Medium-Duty Rebound Next Year

USA -Transport Topics -22 April 2008: -- Hino Trucks said it is forecasting the Class 4-7 market segments to be flat this year, but has set a sales goal of selling 7,000 units in its fiscal year 2008... The company said it set a record in March by selling retail sales of 900 retail units and achieving 15% market share in the Class 6 market segment, and 3% market share in the Class 7 market... For its fiscal year ended on March 31, Hino Trucks had retail sales of 5,350 trucks, off 960 units from the previous year...


* Japan - Hino Motors to Sell Trucks in Russia

Tokyo, Japoan -Jiji Press/Japan Corporate News -Apr 23, 2008: -- Hino Motors Ltd. said Wednesday that it and major trading house Mitsui & Co. will set up a joint venture in Moscow in June for sales of trucks... The new company, Hino Motors Sales, will be capitalized at 400 million yen, of which 65 pct will be contributed by Hino, a commercial vehicle-making unit of Toyota Motor Corp. Mitsui will put up the remaining 35 pct... Initial-year sales are estimated at 500 units. Hino hopes that the annual sales will rise to 5,000 units in five years...

* Paccar’s 1Q Income Declines

USA -Transport Topics -22 April 2008: -- Heavy-duty truck maker Paccar Inc. said Tuesday its first-quarter profit fell to $292.3 million, or 79 cents a share, from $365.6 million, or 97 cents, a year earlier... Sales and financial services revenue slipped to $3.96 billion, from $3.98 billion a year earlier, while truck sales and revenue fell to $3.62 billion, from $3.72 billion, Paccar said... Paccar is the parent company of U.S. truck makers Kenworth Truck Co. and Peterbilt Motors Co., and Europe-based DAF Trucks*...
