* RSA seeks to target HGV drivers

Dublin,Ireland -HGV -15 March 2008: -- The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has hired 14 inspectors to check that bus and truck drivers aren’t breaching the Road Transport Working Time Directive, but a legislative anomaly means they can’t carry out their duties, www.hgvireland.com has learned. The anomaly arose when responsibility for the enforcement of road transport law was transferred to the RSA in September 2006... The new Road Safety Strategy 2007-2012 sets an inspection target of one per cent of all HGV and PSV records annually. A three per cent target has been set for 2010...
