Truck Violations * USA - Enforcement program targets ones
Truckers bearing overweight or uncovered loads, beware
Prescott,AZ,USA -The Prescott Daily Courier, by Cindy Barks -March 12, 2008: -- ... Prescott police have a new tool in their arsenal to counter practices that can wreak havoc on city streets... Since this past fall, a new four-wheel-drive truck has been patrolling Prescott streets on the lookout for commercial trucks that might be violating a variety of regulations... With Officer Garry Grahlmann at the wheel, the black truck comes equipped not only with portable scales to weigh a truck, but also with a laptop computer that enables him to check a truck's past compliance history... Just by entering a transportation identification number, Grahlmann has the trucker's compliance ratings at his fingertips... Grahlmann said his enforcement goes far beyond just weight limits. For instance, he also checks the brakes of the trucks, as well as the hitch connections... While the fines begin at $300, they can run into the thousands of dollars for weight infractions...
