Sound Off! * Canada - On Henday noise

"They're very loud and disruptive, especially at 3 a.m. on a summer night when you're wakened from a deep sleep,"

Edmonton,Ontario,Canada -The Edmonton Journal -4 March 2008: -- The loud staccato of a long-haul trucker applying his engine retarder brakes is a sound John Cantin knows only too well... Cantin lives in the Wedgewood neighbourhood near the interection of Anthony Henday Drive and Lessard Road. The noise of trucks hitting their brakes at the Lessard stoplight is driving him and his Wedgewood neighbours crazy... So loud is the noise, he said, that someone living on the east side of Wedgewood can tell when the traffic lights on the Henday turn red, just from the noise... Coun. Karen Leibovici backed up Cantin's complaint. "It's like nothing I've ever heard," she said of the traffic noise in Wedgewood...
