SAFETY * USA - Senate backs mandating chains on trucks on 3 N. Idaho passes
Boise,Idaho,USA -AP/KPAX-TV (Missoula,MT) -March 11, 2008: -- Interstate truckers on northern Idaho's snowy passes slide off the road and cause traffic jams every winter... As a remedy, the Idaho Senate Tuesday voted to require large trucks to use chains on Fourth of July and Lookout passes on U.S. Interstate 90, as well as Lolo Pass on U.S. Highway 12 near the Montana border - when state highway officials conclude conditions merit traction devices... The Idaho Transportation Department and local law enforcement agencies would post signs letting truckers know of the new requirements...
