Safeway Switches To Biodiesel
Chicago ILL,USA -NBC5.com -January 17, 2008: --
Joined by Mayor Richard M. Daley, Dominick’s announced Thursday that it has converted its entire truck fleet to cleaner-burning biodiesel fuel... By using biodiesel, Dominick’s said it will be eliminating 1,457,256 Lbs. of carbon emissions released into the air annually, which is the equivalent to taking 143 cars off the road every year or to planting 551 acres of pine or fir forests...
The announcement also includes Safeway’s entire U.S. fleet of more than 1,000 trucks which have been converted to cleaner-burning biodiesel fuel, a move that will reduce carbon emissions nationally by 75 million pounds and take nearly 7,500 passenger vehicles off the road each year... Safeway is the first major retailer in the United States to convert its entire trucking fleet to biodiesel... Labels: 'green' trucks
