FORECAST * UK - TfL launches freight plan
London,UK -Motor Transport/Road Transport -10 January 2008: -- Transport for London (TfL) has launched its London Freight Plan in a bid to cope with an anticipated 15% growth in freight demand in the capital by 2025.
The plan will be put into effect over the next five to ten years. There are four key initiatives:
* The Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) - which gives freight firms a gold, silver or bronze rating linked to their legal compliance, road risk management and other criteria
* Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSPs) - building operators will be encouraged to implement DSPs to reduce the impact of deliveries
* Construction Logistics Plans - aimed at boosting the efficiency of construction logistics
* Freight Information Portal - a single interface for information on freight issues between London's public authorities and the freight industry...
However, the Road Haulage Association says it has doubts...
