Amongst all the media hype, it would appear the Manitoba Trucking Association is a lonely voice in opposition to speed limit increases. Clearly, our provincial government, the Department of Infrastructure and Transportation, the Manitoba Chambers of Commence and CAA Manitoba are all in favour of increased speed limits on these highways... In the province's stakeholder consultations held in mid-2007, the consultant hired by the province reported that a 2.5 per cent increase in speed could result in a 12 per cent increase in fatalities and a seven per cent increase in serious personal injuries. Additionally, it was reported that the probability of collisions increases with an increase in speed...(Video from YouTube, by Fearless13Z - August 18, 2007 -"Trucks In A Gravel Pit" - Semi Trailer Trucks Hauling in a Gravel Pit, Manitoba, Canada)
