* Maine truckers consider protesting at state capitol about fuel prices
Maine,USA -Land Line Magazine, by Reed Black & Clarissa Kell-Holland -December 19, 2007: -- Logging truckers in Maine have been trying to get the governor to give them 90 days of relief from the state fuel tax to ease problems caused by high diesel prices. They say they may stage a protest at the state capitol next month... OOIDA member Larry Sidelinger, who heads a group called the Coalition for Lower Fuel Prices, said the state has an emergency fund that could make up for the temporary loss of the diesel tax. But he said the governor is dragging his heels... Meanwhile, coalition members met in Skowhegan on Saturday, Dec. 15, and Sidelinger said the message from truckers was grim...



* Ryder to Buy Lily Transportation's Truck Leasing Assets for Undisclosed Terms




New York,NY,USA -Associated Press/CNN Money -December 19, 2007: -- Ryder Systems Inc., which provides trucking and supply chain management services, said Wednesday it will acquire nearly all of Lily Transportation Corp.'s truck leasing assets... Under the deal, Ryder will acquire Lily's truck fleet, which includes roughly 1,560 full service lease units, as well as more than 240 contract customers served by the Needham, Mass.-based company. Lily operates in 15 locations including Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maine, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Rhode Island...
