Trucking Shortage * Australia - Stops mango harvest
Dimbulah,Queensland,Australia -ABC Online - Dec 19, 2007: -- A far north Queensland mango grower says he has been forced to stop harvesting because of trucking shortages... Bruce Nastasi from Dimbulah wants to export 15,000 trays of the summer fruit, but says there are no trucks available... He says 40 staff have been laid off on his farm this week because there is no work... Mr Nastasi says a better rail network could be the solution and would allow producers to benefit from the busy Christmas period... "We've got a railway line heading south and we need railing equipment to rail our tropical fruit south for Christmas," he said... "The change of hands of farms and the way this area is going crazy, we'll need more transport"...
