TRUCKING INDUSTRY * Australia - ATA backs accreditation reforms, calls for 50% rego discount



Australia -Supply Chain Review -December 14, 2007: -- The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has backed the National Transport Commission’s (NTC) proposed reforms to heavy vehicle accreditation — and called for a 50 percent discount on registration fees for accredited operators... The NTC is proposing to establish a national panel of regulators and industry representatives to oversee a single new accreditation framework. The panel would certify private sector accreditation schemes, such as TruckSafe, to agreed national standards... The NTC has also flagged discounts for accredited operators in registration and fuel charges. The ATA will argue accredited operations should receive a 50 percent discount on registration fees along with a discount in fuel charges...
