* Japan - Isuzu Net Falls as Japan Slump Tempers Overseas Sales
Yokohama,Japan -Bloomberg, by Kiyori Ueno -Nov. 12, 2007: -- Isuzu Motors Ltd., Japan's biggest maker of light trucks, said first-half profit fell 33 percent as it didn't repeat a one-time gain a year earlier and domestic demand slumped... Net income dropped to 37 billion yen ($335 million), or 21.60 yen a share, in the six months ended September from 55.4 billion yen, or 46.61 yen, a year earlier, the company said in a Tokyo Stock Exchange statement today. That was less than the 44.2 billion yen average of three analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Sales rose 6 percent to 874.5 billion yen... * UK - Long wait for new trucks could last 18 months
London,UK -Road Transport -15 Nov 2007: -- It seems incredible, but the current long waiting times for new trucks could last another 18 months or more. At Motor Transport’s Fleet Management conference, David Potter, engineering director of DHL Exel Supply Chain said that the situation is not going to get better... He has been speaking to the major manufacturers and as one of the biggest buyers of trucks in the country, he is a good position to know the position. Waiting, he says, times can be up to a year... Normally he sells trucks after four or five years. Now he is planning keep them considerably longer. This could hit the whole industry. New used vehicles will be in strong demand, and difficult to find...
