Weight-In-Motion System * USA - Helps Both Law Enforcement And Truckers
Some states have got taken to installing a Weight-In-Motion system to help the traffic flowing of semi-trucks
Tacoma,WASH,USA -Tacoma Trashcan.blogspot -October 12, 2007: -- It would be a great aid to motortruck drivers if they could avoid waiting in long lines at weigh stations... The Weight-In-Motion (WIM) system plant like this, a driver or hauling company purchases a transponder from the state section of transportation. The transponder acquires mounted in the cab of the motortruck and is programmed with all the inside information pertaining to that motortruck (registration, size, safety record, etc.). Certain weigh stations have got WIM scales of measurement embedded in the paving in the route about a one-half statute mile before you acquire to them... The motortruck then drives across the scale, the weight is instantaneously sent to the weigh station, and then the transponder communicates the truck's information. At the weigh station the incoming motortruck information is compared to the weight that came in from the scale of measurement and if everything is approved of a greenish visible light is illuminated on the transponder and the motortruck driver can go on down the road, bypassing the weigh station. If the visible light on the transponder turns red, the motortruck driver must draw into the weigh station for additional inspection... This is a great small technological promotion that volition salvage money and clip on the law enforcement side of the issue, and save bringing clip and money on the commercial side of the issue...
