Sacramento,CA,USA -The California Farm Bureau, by Christine Souza -October 17, 2007: -- Representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) toured various agricultural businesses in California to examine how commodities are shipped as part of a safety study that the agency is scheduled to complete by the end of the year. The final results of the study could impact how California agriculture transporters are regulated to haul products from the field to the packinghouse or processor... The California Farm Bureau Federation, as part of an agricultural coalition, organized the two-day tour in mid-September during the busy harvest season to show DOT representatives the wide variety of trucking containers used to haul the state's diverse agricultural commodities...
