OPINION * USA - Limit the amount of trucks on residential roads

Finally, a fuss is occurring that involves trucks using our public highways

Allentown,PA,USA -The Allentown Morning Call -October 15, 2007: -- The Eisenhower administration made a serious error in allowing the dismantling of our vast railroad system in favor of the interstate highways. While the modernization of the highways was necessary, care should have been taken to maintain a strong network of railroads for the efficient transport of raw materials and manufactured goods... However, discussions need to go far beyond the issue of tolls on I-80. We will not allow manufacturing and commerce in our residential neighborhoods. Why then is gigantic freight-hauling equipment allowed to share and frequently dominate the same streets and roads used by the general public -- a public that often includes inexperienced, under- the-influence, and incapable drivers?...
