* UK - Truckmakers lift European equities
London,England,UK -The Financial Times -23 Aug 2007: -- Truckmakers were buoyed by a report from Standard & Poor’s. The ratings agency forecast demand for heavy-duty trucks in central and eastern Europe to double over the next four years as the region’s economy expands, prompting higher investment in infrastructure... Shares in Germany’s MAN, which already has a plant in Poland, rose 0.9 per cent to €99.15... Sweden’s Volvo, which has a new plant in Russia, rose 0.2 per cent to SKr119... Scania, also of Sweden, climbed 3.2 per cent to SKr160... And DaimlerChrysler, which manufactures trucks under its Mercedes brand, added 0.4 per cent to €63.08...

Until now, the International 7600 series 6 10005 4 truck tractor was available in the local market with a Cummins power source only... “Making the 7600 series available with Caterpillar’s C12 engine gives us a great option with CAT plant operators and pro- vides fleet managers and owner operators with a choice when they specify their trucks. Most importantly, we can now offer customers the option of a gross combination mass of 55 t with a triaxle semitrailer compared to only 50 t previously"...
