MEXICANS' TRUCKS * USA - FMCSA plans to proceed with truck program

Washington,DC,USA -The Trucker -17 Aug 2007: -- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration today announced its intention of proceeding with a project to demonstrate the ability of Mexico-domiciled motor carriers to operate safety in the United States beyond commercial zones along the U.S.-Mexico border... In a notice published today in the Federal Register, the FMCSA said is had reviewed, assessed and evaluated the required safety measures as noted in a notice in the Federal Register May 1 and had considered all the comments received as of July 31, 2007 in response to the May 1 and June 8 notices... The announcement drew sharp criticism from the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, which expressed disappointment in learning the Mexican cross-border trucking pilot program was set to begin...
