Rattled by aftershocks and cut off from most of the world, desperate survivors of the massive earthquake that claimed some 500 lives in Peru looted trucks carrying food and water on Friday

Pisco,Peru -AFP -17 Aug 2007: -- ... As rescue teams raced against time to find any suvivors still buried in the rubble two days after the quake, tempers frayed anger at the slowness of the arrival of emergency aid... Lacking official figures, news media estimate the number of people affected by the quake at anywhere from 60,000 and 200,000 with many tens of thousand believed to have lost their homes...
