* Ford's new paint technique saves money, energy and the environment
USA -Auto123.com -August 8, 2007: -- You might not think much of it, but painting a vehicle can be a very dirty, polluting and energy consuming process... Ford announced yesterday that they had delivered some 200 E-Series trucks to U-Haul which are painted in a new, more environmentally friendly process which reduces greenhouse gasses by 15 percent and cuts production costs at the same time... * Bill would force EPA to OK waiver for stricter California emissions regs

The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee reportedly approved a bill requiring the Environmental Protection Agency to grant California a waiver to implement strict vehicle greenhouse gas emissions... The California Air Resources Board has made carbon its next target after achieving sharply restrictive requirements for emissions of nitrogen oxide and diesel particulate matter... The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in April that the EPA has the authority to regulate greenhouse gasses emitted by vehicles...
* Canada - Enviro-friendly drivers to be marked with 'Eco-licence plate'
Etobicoke,Ont,CAN -Today's Trucking -8 Aug 2007: -- New environmental initiatives include identifying drivers and truckers who buy green vehicles and related technology with an "Eco-licence plate"... Premier Dalton McGuinty says he plans to begin stakeholder consultations with vehicle OEMs and environmental groups to develop a green vehicle program that will rate cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles using environmental criteria... The Eco-licence plate, to be launched in 2008, is intended to encourage people to buy cleaner, fuel effecient vehicles...
