Biofuels Industry * UK - Backs Calls for Strict Carbon and Sustainability Standards
Leading Members of the biofuels industry have today called on the Government to put in place minimum requirements for sustainability and carbon savings
London,UK -TNN, by Gerald Woodgate -21 May 2007: -- The standards would form part of a new Government requirement for biofuels to be included in fuel sold at petrol stations across the country known as the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation (RTFO)... In its response to the Department of Transport Consultation on the RTFO, the Environmental Industries Commission's (EIC) Renewable Transport Fuels Working Group3 has called for minimum carbon savings and sustainability standards to be introduced by 2010... This would build on mandatory reporting on carbon and sustainability for the first two years of the RTFO, which is due to commence in 2008...
