* Toll road bill sent to Tennessee governor

Tenn,USA -Land Line Magazine (Grain Valley,MO,USA), by Keith Goble -June 18, 2007: -- With the state struggling to pay for needed transportation work, the Tennessee Legislature approved a bill that would authorize tolling as a method to pay for new road and bridge work in the state... The proposed “Tennessee Tollway Act” would allow the state to issue bonds and incur debt to pay for two pilot toll projects: one bridge and one road. For the bridge project, officials are considering a six-mile stretch of road and bridge northeast of Nashville... Removed from the bill was a provision that would have allowed private groups to build and operate the toll routes. Another provision left off the bill would have allowed existing lanes to become toll lanes...

* Indiana and Illinois reach agreement on toll discounts
Ind & Ill,USA -Land Line Magazine (Grain Valley,MO,USA) -June 18, 2007: -- Officials in Indiana and have Illinois resolved a dispute over toll discounts on the Indiana Toll Road... The squabble ended when the Indiana Toll Road Oversight Board approved a resolution to extend the 40-percent discount to Illinois residents who have I-Pass transponders until 2016. Illinois Tollway officials issued a statement accepting the offer...
