* Russia - KAMAZ to arrange trucks assembly in Egypt and China
Moscow,Russia -Kommersant/RIA Novosti -June 18, 2007: -- KAMAZ Information Policy Director Vladimir Samoilov, specified no definite dates of these projects. “Everything depends on our foreign partners,” he said... Of interest is that Samoilov didn’t cross out the chances of implementing such projects in Latin America. Venezuela and Columbia aggressively sell KAMAZ trucks and Chile has set to selling them as well... He reminded that the truck assembly was arranged in Pakistan in 2006, and the plant has been launched in Iran this year... KAMAZ made 42,000 trucks in 2006; 12,000 of that number were exported. This year’s target exceeds 50,000 trucks...
* India - Auto firms drive into small truck market
Mumbai,India -Reuters, by Rina Chandran -June 18, 2007: -- Top truck maker Tata Motors Ltd. has launched a passenger variant of its Ace, a popular sub-1 tonne truck, and Mahindra & Mahindra is working on a multi-purpose utility vehicle that can carry people and cargo... Number-two truck maker Ashok Leyland is keen to make a small truck, and motorbike maker Bajaj Auto has said it would develop a small, multi-application vehicle... (See Picture)
