PRODUCTS * Finland - Sisu Trucks Has Guts!
Karjaaa,FIN -Biglorryblog (UK) -11 Nov 2006: -- ... has long had a soft spot in his heart for the Finnish truck maker Sisu... Why? because despite the presence of its two most powerful next-door-neighbours (i.e. Volvo and Scania) it continues to exist and build trucks that owe more to the North American principal of using top quality proprietry components than the long-established 'vertically integrated' assembly principle where you make everything yourself... Sisu, for example, takes cabs from Renault, modifies them and puts them on their own chassis but with a Caterpillar or Volvo/Renault engine and an Eaton/Fuller gearbox. It does make its own super-strong axles and double-tough frames but that's about it...
