USA -Fleet Owner, by Terrence Nguyen -Jul 28, 2006: -- The U.S. economy slowed sharply from the white-hot growth rate recorded in the second quarter, but the stage is set for solid but moderating growth for trucking companies in the second half of the year... The gross domestic product (GDP) increased at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 2.5%, compared with 5.6% in the first quarter. Much of the moderating growth can be traced to unsustainable growth in the first quarter. But what’s promising about the 2Q GDP report is that after aggressive, unsustainable 1Q growth, key components of the economy either continued to grow moderately or dipped only slightly...
