Experiences - Canada - Need for speed? Adopt the European system
"... it is a pleasure driving on the European super-highways at any time..."
Ancaster,Ontario, Canada -Ancaster News, by Raymond Braun -Jul 28, 2006: -- We have just returned from an extended trip by car in Eastern Europe (Finland to Serbia) and noticed on entry to all the different countries big signs that indicate the speed for cars and trucks on superhighways... Trucks must keep at all times to the right lane(s) and can only go at 90 km/h. In some countries, like Hungary and the Czech Republic, they can only travel at 80 km/h.
The same goes for France, Spain, Portugal and Germany. The speed limit for cars in all these countries is either 130 or 140 km/h, with few exceptions... I wish something like that could be done here... We all know what it is like when driving on the 403 and you have transports in front of you, behind you and in all lanes beside you...
