Safety group seeks official warning after Ford Explorer accidents
Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -8 July 2006: -- A safety advocacy group wants federal regulators to notify the owners of Ford Explorers about the dangers of recalled Firestone ATX tires that may still be on vehicles or used as spare tires after a series of recent accidents... In a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Friday, Sean Kane, the head of Massachusetts-based Safety Research and Strategies Inc., said at least five severe accidents have been caused by recalled Firestone tires that remained on Explorers, resulting in two fatalities...
