The historic Flag Market is currently littered with countless cracked flagstones, each marked with a painted yellow cross... It is understood the damage has been caused by heavy vehicles using the square for events... In 2001, cars were banned from parking on the Flag Market because it was felt they were to blame for damaging the flags which was, in turn, leading to compensation claims...
