High-tech - USA - City considers new garbage truck

New trucks expected to save money in long run

Phoenix,AR,USA -Muskogee Daily Phoenix, by Liz McMahan -23 June 2004: -- Technology will make picking up Muskogee’s trash a lot easier for the city’s sanitation workers in the years ahead... The Muskogee City Council will vote Monday night on purchasing a $184,000 automated, side-dumping trash truck and 1,600 new poly carts... The city has been paying $80,000 to $90,000 for each of its sanitation trucks. The new trucks are considerably more expensive, but should save money in the long run, said Mike Stewart, director of public works... The new truck will have a robotic arm that reaches out, hugs a trash cart, raises it to the truck, dumps it and sets it back down...
