Identity Stolen - USA - Man’s victim through job application
Brownsville,TX,USA -The Brownsville Herald, by JEFF RAYMOND -Apr 13, 2006: — Filling out a job application left a man with more than he bargained for: a Public Utilities Board account in someone else’s name... The victim, David Fries, received a $779.78 PUB bill in the mail for an address at which he had never lived, according to a Brownsville police report... Juan Jose Cruz, 22, is accused of stealing Fries’ identity to begin PUB service and attempting to steal another man’s, whom police identified only as “Mr. Galvan,” according to police reports... Fries recalled Cruz when he visited PTL Trucking Co. to fill out a job application... Fries currently is employed with PTL Trucking. Lt. James Paschall said Cruz no longer works there... Cruz also told police he used Fries’ information to open a PUB account... The account went unpaid until it was disconnected... Each charge is a state jail felony and is punishable by two years in prison and a $10,000 fine... Cruz was released on a $25,000 bond Wednesday, Paschall said...
