HOS - Canada - New trucking regulations to limit hours

Valemount,BC,Canada -Robson Valley Times, by JENNIFER QUAM -8 Apr 2006: -- New proposed federal rules pertaining to log hauling and the number of hours truck drivers can work are going to have a direct affect to log haulers in the Robson Valley if instated... Roy Nagel, Manager of the Central Interior Logging Association (CILA), said that the proposed federal regulations will come into affect January 1, 2007 and unless there is flexibility at the provincial level, those proposed standards would govern all commercial transport in B.C. by default... “The key points in the planned federal rules that pertain to log-hauling are a limit of 13 hours of driving per day, plus one hour in-service, to a maximum of 70 hours per week,” said Nagel. “There must also be a minimum of 36 hours consecutive rest time in each seven-day week"...
