Blockade - Australia - 100 trucks caught in protest
Queensland,Australia -NEWS.com.au/AAP -Apr 11, 2006: -- MORE than 100 trucks were caught up in a protest action in NSW for several hours after four semi-trailers blocked a major highway.Trucks carrying aid for cyclone-ravaged parts of north Queensland were believed to be among the dozens of heavy vehicles stuck on the Hume Highway near Gundagai from about 8pm (AEST) yesterday... Police were called to the scene to negotiate with the truck divers who stopped in the middle of the Sheahan Bridge, blocking traffic in both directions, reportedly protesting over freight haulage rates... The spokeswoman said police had concerns for livestock loaded onto several B-double trucks which were not involved in the protest action but had become gridlocked south of the bridge...
