Dirty Wheels - USA - Mid America Trucking Show
The United States truck world seems to finally be realising that there are trucks in the rest of the world
Australia -Australasian Transport News (subscription), by Tim Giles -18 Apr 2006: -- This year's Mid-America Trucking Show brought the rest of the globe home to the Americans... All of the major manufacturers were showing something in their range that integrated with European or Japanese product... Detroit Diesel... A Sterling truck based on a Fuso design... The new 11 litre Volvo engine... International showing off their latest range of engines... A light duty DAF LF was on show... The Chinese market was the claimed destination for one of the strangest displays... The monster 6x4 prime mover used a Kenworth chassis fitted with a Caterpillar C-15 engine... The single message coming from the states is that the industry there has finally accepted that they must become global or die. There is room for some niche players but to slug it out with the big boys you've got to sell worldwide...
