Troubles - Rep Moldova - Trucks and trainloads blocked at border between Ukraine and Russia
Chisinau,Rep Moldova -Moldova.org (Falls Church,VA,USA) -28 Mar 2006: -- About 200 trainloads and trucks with Moldovan wines that should arrive in the Russian Federation are blocked at the customs offices between Ukraine and Russia, after Moscow has restricted the imports from Moldova... The sanitary service of Russia, Rospotrebnadzor, has ordered the suspension of wine imports from Moldova and Georgia, starting March 27, saying that they contain too many pesticides and metals and harm consumers... The Russian newspaper Kommersant quoted experts as saying that Moscow’s sanctions have a political nature. "We have been importing wines from Moldova for ten years and we had never had problems related to their quality," said the chairman of the Russian company Vinny Mir Holding, a leading importer of Moldovan wines...
