DETROIT, Mich,USA -Automotive News, by Jamie LaReau -Jan 18, 2006: -- General Motors will launch a major push into the "green" next month when it kicks off a print campaign promoting its flexible-fuel vehicles, which can operate on the ethanol-based fuel known as E-85, said Beth Lowery, GM's Vice president, environment and energy, in the Automotive News World Congress... GM continues to back research and technology that improves fuel efficiency. The company will start promoting its flexible-fuel vehicles in a major ad campaign... The message is that offers consumers several alternatives to pure gasoline-powered vehicles: Besides flex-fuel vehicles, GM offers hybrid versions of some of its trucks... Also is introducing new hybrid vehicles, cylinder deactivation technology on some vehicles and diesel, which Lowery says is important in reducing carbon-dioxide emissions...
