Australia -Australasian Transport News (subscription) -11 Nov 2005: -- The trucking industry is taking its road safety message to the community in the National Drive for Safety on Saturday, December 10, reinforcing the need to take extra care on the roads over the Christmas holiday period... "The National Drive for Safety is a practical way in which the trucking industry can work with governments and the community to make our roads safer," Australian Trucking Association (ATA) Chairman Ross Fraser says. The drive is organised by the ATA in conjunction with its member organisations across Australia. It involves trucking operators taking a short truck drive with a politician in their electorate to discuss key road safety issues, and to highlight how all road users can contribute to improved road safety by sharing the roads with heavy vehicles...
