Safety - USA - ATA Asks States for Primary Safety Belt Laws

As Part of New Truck Safety Initiative

USA -Truckline Express-Nov 11, 2005: -- American Trucking Associations President and CEO Bill Graves, Monday will ask the governors of 25 states to push for the adoption of primary safety belt laws in their respective states as part of a new truck safety initiative... Graves also will unveil ATA's tacit support of a federal regulation requiring the use of electronic on-board recorders for documenting compliance with hours-of-service rules, provided EOBR's demonstrably improve safety performance and compliance, along with other conditions... Other truck safety initiatives that will be put forth include The American Transportation Research Institute's (ATRI) crash predictor study and an ATRI report on highway work zone designs and their appropriateness for accommodating large trucks...
