Largest - China - Shanghai set to be world's top port
SHANGHAI,China -UPI/Shanghai Daily -Nov. 8, 2005: -- Shanghai port authorities say their facility is about to overtake Singapore as the world's biggest maritime port in terms of cargo volume... In the first 10 months of this year Shanghai had a freight volume of 363 million tons, contrasted to Singapore's 351 million tons, reported Tuesday... Expects throughput via the city's ports will reach 443 million tons by the end of this year and could exceed Singapore's total... Last year, Shanghai surpassed Rotterdam to become the second-largest port in the world...
