Corruption - Germany - Former DaimlerChrysler staffer probed in oil-for-food scandal

BERLIN,Germany -Associated Press-Nov 7, 2005: -- German authorities have begun investigating a former employee of DaimlerChrysler AG over the sale of a vehicle to Iraq mentioned in the inquiry into the U.N. oil-for-food program, prosecutors said Monday... The former DaimlerChrysler employee is suspected of illegally obtaining an export permit for the vehicle with the help of a concealed payment worth $8,210 at current rates, the prosecutors said in a brief statement... There was no indication on the model, date of the sale, recipient of the payment or date of the employee's departure from DaimlerChrysler...
