Cut II - Europe - Ford to slash 2,600 jobs as it restructures

Reduction part of an ongoing plan

WEBSTER -Nov 5, 2005: -- Ford Motor Co., which lost $284 million worldwide during the third quarter, is cutting 2,600 jobs in Europe as part of an effort to reduce employment this year by 10,000, a company spokesman said... Ford had 324,864 employees at the end of 2004, and Chief Financial Officer Don Leclair said last month the automaker planned to cut about 3.1% of those jobs through... Ford now confirms that 2,600 jobs in Ford of Europe, including as many as 1,300 in Germany alone, need to be cut by year's end. Ford of Europe employs about 68,000 workers, so the reduction targets about 3.8% of that workforce. Nissen noted that the cuts will all come from Ford-brand operations, and not those of Premier Automotive Group brands such as Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover...
